V.A. "Birth of the Harlem Grooves on Fire" CD

The moment when the funky groove of the black neighborhoods of New York ignited! From the music produced by the famous producer Bobby Robinson, we have selected R&B/Blues/Soul/Funk works featuring King Curtis and the two Kingpins he led, Cornell Dupree and Bernard Purdie in their younger days! This is the world's first compilation project that music fans who listen to musicians should listen to!

A definitive single compilation that captures the origins of King Curtis & The Kingpins is complete! The Kingpins are famous for backing up Aresa Franklin at the Fillmore West in San Francisco in March 1971, and releasing two live masterpieces, "Live at Fillmore West," along with their own opening performance. In order to explore the roots of the New York soul sound that peaked with Aresa Franklin's "Young, Gifted and Black" (1972), and those two albums, this compilation includes singles from the label Enjoy, run by Bobby Robinson, a famous producer in the city, and features uncredited artists such as King Curtis, Cornell Dupree, and Bernard Purdie (and perhaps even the two great bassists Chuck Rainey and Jerry Jemmott?). New masterpiece funk numbers are also unearthed! This is the origin of the New York soul sound!
I gave Bernard Purdie his start as a drummer - Bobby Robinson
