LUIGI ANA DA BOYS “Feeling The Ceiling” CD

★First limited production
★Paper jacket specification

The missing link of British rock is now connected! A long-awaited CD reissue of a rare and elusive UK hard rock album featuring the aesthetics of twin lead guitars reminiscent of Thin Lizzy and Wishbone Ash!

Luigi Ana Da Boys was formed in Leeds, England, by guitarist and singer Duncan McFarlane. Their musical style, reminiscent of Thin Lizzy and Wishbone Ash, was a strange one in the club/pub scene at the time when punk and new wave were just starting to emerge, but the band gained a cult following among some enthusiastic audiences. They pressed a thousand copies of a white-jacketed promotional album containing studio demos, and "Feeling the Ceiling" is an album that unearthed that recording and revived it in the 21st century. "Horror Suite" (M1) is a 10-and-a-half-minute epic that starts with a hard, fast-paced intro that is also reminiscent of Gunn's "Devil's Heaven" and then rushes into a progressive development. From the folk-minded final track "J'Accuse" (M8), the album is permeated with great anachronism, with melodies filled with the wet melancholy unique to the UK, powerful instrumentals, and phrases that follow the style of British traditional music. Coincidentally, Iron Maiden started working as a twin guitar band in London at about the same time, proving that they were one of the roots of the early heavy metal boom (NWOBHM) that began in the late 1970s. Luigi Ana Da Boys did not get a contract with a record company at the time and disbanded before their dream was over, but Duncan continued his musical activities. In 2012, they held a reunion concert and attracted new attention. In 2015, they released a two-disc self-cover album, "Revisiting The Ceiling," which included songs from "Feeling the Ceiling" and songs that were not recorded at the time. The original "Feeling the Ceiling" was finally released worldwide. In the music scene of the late 1970s, they were branded as old school, but their sharp twin leads and wet melodies are still fresh and timeless even in the 21st century. Luigi's music has a timeless resonance, with the band holding occasional reunion shows and planning to perform on stage in Otley, just outside Leeds, in 2024.
