Mohini Dey "Mohini Dey" CD

The first album by Indian female bassist Mohini Dey, who has been gaining attention for her superb technical playing! Featuring guest appearances by Narada Michael Walden, Simon Phillips, Marco Minneman, Guthrie Govan and others, the Japanese version also includes bonus tracks such as singles featuring Steve Vai and Jordan Rudes!

Born in Mumbai, India in 1996, Mohini was influenced by her musician parents and grew up listening to Weather Report and Miles Davis. She played her father's handmade bass guitar, but at the age of 10, she got a Fender Jazz Bass. She started playing in front of audiences. She gained attention outside of India after being recognized by AR Rahman, a film composer known for Slumdog Millionaire (2008). Furthermore, her videos were viewed worldwide through YouTube and social media, and top musicians offered her collaborations. Among them were Steve Vai, Jordan Rudess, Guthrie Govan, Mike Stern, Marco Minnemann, Quincy Jones, and other distinguished artists, from whom Mohini absorbed musicianship and further developed. In recent years, she has been selected by Forbes India magazine as "the most successful musician under 30." She came to Japan in 2017 and 2018 as a member of Guthrie Govan's band, and in 2019 she participated in B'z's tour as a supporting bassist. She is also supported by Japanese rock fans, and in 2023 she finally completed her first leader album, "Mohini Day."

Although it is her debut album, she has already been through many battles and has established a worldview that combines originality and perfection. She freely incorporates rock, jazz/fusion, funk, and Indian konakol, and assimilates them with her own identity. In addition to her talent as a composer, she also features superb technical playing, making for a thrilling listening experience full of ups and downs. She is firmly supported by talented musicians from around the world, who sometimes engage in fierce battles with her. A powerful lineup includes Ron "Bumblefoot" Searle and Guthrie Govan on guitar, and Simon Phillips, Narada Michael Walden, and Marco Minnemann on drums. Mohini's musicianship is further highlighted as she takes on the challenge head-on. Her husband, Mark Hartsuch, also plays saxophone. The Japanese version also includes a bonus track, "Can You Feel Me," featuring Steve Vai and Jordan Rudess. This makes it an even more luxurious all-star album.
