The memorable first album "Critical 11" released in 2002 by the Naniwa backyard rhyming group, Rhyming Association, formed mainly in Americamura, Osaka, has been released as a remastered version! This masterpiece, which left a big impact on the Japanese rap scene, includes their representative song "Soruifumi"!
The rhyming group, Infuaigo Kumiai, was formed by CHIEF ROKKA (SATUSSY, ERONE, DJ KAN), HEAD BANGERZ (HIDADDY, Yuugi, DJ KITADA KEN, MENTOL), NOTABLE MC (OHYA (Daruma-san), AKIRA (EVISBEATS)) (now departed), and ILL MINT, aka MINT (now departed). The group was quickly becoming known among heads through the release of their songs on the famous compilation "Homebrewer's Vol.1," which was born from a column serialized in the hip-hop magazine "blast," and the release of "Infuaigo Kumiai VOL.0," a compilation of demo recordings. In 2002, the group released their first album, "Critical 11," which was a long-awaited release, and now it is being re-released as a remastered version!
As the group name suggests, this is a masterpiece that will blow your mind with the strong characters, lyric sense, and overwhelming mic relays/interactions of the MCs who are particular about rhyming, and it is still very popular 20 years after its release! It includes the group's representative song "Soroifu"!
It is written as "blue spring" and means "youth".
Looking back now, I see these two albums as works produced in the midst of our youth, and as our origins.
That time when I was just running around with my vibes and initial impulses, using my right and left brain to the fullest to rhyme. It seems like it was just yesterday, but I'm surprised that 20 years have already passed, and I feel nostalgic about how I was so passionate about sticking to originality, working hard, and producing results!
The spark of each artist's talent and the chemical reaction between the raps and beats have made this an epoch-making album for sure.
Furthermore, with the artwork by DJ NAPEY and CMK, and the efforts of A&R man Masaru Sato (RIP), I believe we were able to leave a strong mark on the scene.
I hope that with this release, not only heads who remember that time, but also teenage listeners who weren't even born at the time of its release, will learn that there was a time when such a rich, doo-dop album was made, and enjoy it.
peace.
