Ed Motta "Criterion of the Senses" CD

★ Simultaneous worldwide release
★Japanese edition includes 6 bonus tracks

Brazilian groove master Ed Motta is a pioneer of AOR. He has completed his third sophisticated urban album following "AOR" and "Perpetual Gateways"!

The first mantis-jacketed AOR masterpiece since Steely Dan's "Liar Katy" is born! (...Huh? Is that a grasshopper? If so, it's the first mantis-style AOR masterpiece since Donald Fagen's "Kamalikiado") This challenging artwork and the meaningful title "The Measure of Taste", yet the contents are a superb urban sound, Edge's strategy is too refreshing, and it's his third masterpiece!

Brazilian groove master Ed Motta has become an authority on modern AOR after releasing two urban AOR sound albums in succession, including 2013's "AOR," which was a huge hit here in Japan, and 2016's "Perpetual Gateways," which featured a lineup of stellar musicians. His new album "Criterion of the Senses," his first in two and a half years, takes that line even further, and while his previous two albums could be seen as homages to the 70s sound, it can be said to be a work that expresses his love for the 80s sound more. Not only are there more songs that suit the night views of coastal streets and resorts, but there are also many references unique to Ed, who is also a big collector of Japanese city pop, such as the sweet and dangerous scent of "Sweetest Berry" and the sound of Kadomatsu from the Black Complex period of "Your Satisfaction is Mine," which makes you smile. Or rather, as one of the world's leading record collectors, Ed knows and expresses the best grooves in the world, so everything he does, from songwriting to arranging and instrument selection, is of such high quality. And the cynical sense of humor in combining this jacket and title is enough to make you surrender. What is the measure of good taste? Edji Motta is testing us now!
