Members with their own unique styles and active in various musical fields such as funk, R&B, reggae, Cuban, salsa, and Afrobeat have come together under the name of Salsa. The first single was released in March 2018 by Swiss label Matasuna Records (released in Japan in May 2016) and reached number one on Juno Records' international chart. BANDERAS, a salsa band from Tokyo that is rapidly gaining attention overseas, has released their long-awaited first album. It may be inevitable that attention will be drawn to these bands, who push the boundaries of salsa music, which is only familiar to a limited number of fans worldwide, while incorporating a wealth of musical elements. As the album title "La Bandera (the flag)" suggests, this work is as if they are planting a new salsa flag from Tokyo. Packed with a yearning for classic salsa, an approach that is not bound by existing frameworks, a destructive sense of frustration, sweat and romance, this is an album that will have you crying, laughing and dancing.
