Geraldo Pino & The Heartbeats "Let's Have a Party" CD
*Commentary: Hajime Oishi (TOKYO SABROSO)
*World's first straight CD reissue *Paper jacket
Its funkiness is inspired by James Brown, and its blackness surpasses that of Fela Kuti! This is a true Afro-funk anthem album!
The deep darkness and groove of this unparalleled album is a gem! This last hidden gem, which is hard to find and boasts dense content that Afro-funk and rare groove freaks have been searching for, is finally being reissued on the world's first straight CD!
Geraldo Pino, the African JB, is a man who exists above Fela Kuti, who reigns as the god of Afro music. He is a pioneer who first brought elements of American soul and R&B to West Africa, and is also famous for bringing James Brown's music to Lagos in the mid-60s, astonishing and influencing the young Fela Kuti, who was playing Nigerian popular music highlife, and is a true originator of Afrobeat/funk from Sierra Leone in western Africa. This is his second album released by EMI Nigeria in 1974. Like his first album, which is immensely popular among rare groove freaks, this is a perfect album recorded with his own band, The Heartbeats, and is a perfect fusion of Afrobeat and funk elements that only a legendary man can have! This is a gem of an Afro-funk album, with songs such as "Heavy, Heavy, Heavy," "Let Them Talk," and "Africans Must Unite," which have been included on various compilations, being highly polished and rarer than even the first album!
