Savas & Savalas "Folk Songs for Trains, Trees & Honey" + "The Rolls & Waves EP" CD
A long-awaited reissue of the immortal masterpiece by the genius Scott Heren (aka Prefuse 73) under the name Savas & Savalas! A Japan-only version with all the tracks from the EP from the same period as a bonus!
The essence of jazz combined with the textures of the Chicago Acoustic School, and the floating sound woven together with acoustic instruments and electronics creates an eternal nostalgia befitting the dawn of the 2000s that cannot be summed up in one word such as "post-rock" or "electronica"!
Scott Herren, who used names such as Savas & Savalas and Prefuse 73, had a great influence on the IDM/electronica scene in the 2000s. He is often referred to as Prefuse 73, who achieved a new approach to hip-hop with his vocal chop technique on Vocal Studies and Uprock Narratives (2001/Warp Records). However, this work, released the year before in 2000 by Hefty Records in Chicago, US, was highly acclaimed as an epoch-making album in the "electronica" scene, whose definition was still unclear at the time, with the essence of jazz, which is also Scott's roots, exquisitely blended with live instruments and electronics. In Japan at the time, the seventh track, "Journey's Holmes," was used in a TV commercial for a major cram school, and it was a very popular work not only musically but also as listening music. In addition, for this reissue, the entire "The Rolls & Waves EP," which was produced around the same time, is included as a bonus track!
