Orbital "Monsters Exist [Standard Edition]" CD
Orbital, one of the "Four Heavenly Kings of UK Techno" alongside Underworld, Chemical Brothers, and The Prodigy, has released their first album in six years, something the whole world has been waiting for!
With a rebellious spirit against the world situation and a return to rave, this is a masterpiece that fans will love, blending the sound and aggression reminiscent of the masterpieces of the 90s! The artwork was done by John Greenwood, who also worked on ``Snivilisation'' ('94) and ``In Sides'' ('96)!
"This is an album that portrays the monsters of our time. They could be the bankers, the 'That Guy', or your own inner demons and fears." -- Phil Hartnoll (Orbital)
◆Orbital is a duo of brothers Paul and Phil Hartnoll, who led the techno scene in the 90s with hits such as "Chime," "Impact," and "PETROL." After a hiatus from 2004, they made a complete comeback with their previous album "Wonky" in 2012, and have now released their first new album in six years, "Monsters Exist"! Inspired by the current political situation in the world, they wavered between choosing a crude expression that would stick the middle finger up at the current situation, or returning to the sensibilities of the rave era, and ended up completing a work that fuses the two. During the production period, Paul loved listening to new generation electronica such as Nathan Fake and John Hopkins, as well as Beck and Belle & Sebastian. Meanwhile, Phil was immersed in Bicep and the resurgent Berlin minimal techno. Their heavy yet pop sound, with fantastical synth sounds and electro beats, and the occasional sprinkling of humor, is something that you would call "this is Orbital!" and will delight fans of their 90s work, but there must have been a clear intention behind their decision to go back to basics in the face of "modern monsters."
"There's no need to delve into who the monster is. I'm not talking about Donald Trump or Kim Jong Un. It's obvious who the monster is. I don't like to lecture people. I'm much better at eliciting a little thought." --Paul Hartnoll, Orbital
