HENRY FRANKLIN “The Skipper At Home” CD
★2020 latest remaster edition★ Both CD and LP are imported and available for domestic distribution
This is one of the most famous albums in the discography of Henry Franklin, the bassist who played with The Three Sounds, Gene Harris, Freddie Hubbard, Hampton Hawes, and others, and was the most in-demand bassist in LA. The impressive jacket is also great!
Henry Franklin is a fearsome bassist who played with The Three Sounds, Gene Harris, Freddie Hubbard, Hampton Hawes, and others, and was the most constantly ringing bassist in LA. He is a representative bassist of Black Jazz Records, having participated in works by label founders Gene Russell and Doug Kahn. Born in 1940, this LA bassist has left behind many works, but this is one of his most highly acclaimed albums, and was played by many DJs during the acid jazz boom of the 1990s, leading to a reevaluation. Once you listen to the opening track "BLUE LIGHTS," which features Henry Franklin's addictive, dope bass, funky guitar, comfortable electric piano, and destructive saxophone mixed together in a chaotic fashion, you will definitely be thrilled by the appeal of this album. In the cover of Chick Corea's "What Was," they play an uneasy waltz, and in "Venus Fly Trap," the instruments run wild, led by Henry Franklin's bass. It's a fun and free work, and by the end of the last song, "Waltz For Boobuss," everyone will be smiling at the cool playing, just like the impressive jacket.
