"There are times when a note uttered by John Coltrane feels eternal.
The magic that transforms a moment into eternity is what I long for." (Miyake Jun)

Inspired by words that Jun Miyake once left behind in an interview, this project delves deeper into his true character, which was revealed on TBS's Jonetsu Tairiku, and centers around an extensive interview with him, as well as testimonies about Jun Miyake from 48 people from seven countries.

He started out as a jazz musician, became known as the King of Commercial Music as a composer, established a cross-breeding style and won the European Music Critics' Award repeatedly, was appointed as the image character for Galeries Lafayette, was beloved by Pina Bausch, arranged the national anthem for the Rio Olympics, and worked on soundtracks for countries around the world.

Is this really the path walked by just one Japanese musician?

He was discovered by Terumasa Hino and moved to New York at the age of 18.
Having lost hope in the future of jazz, he moved to Tokyo at the age of 23.
He went to Paris at the age of 47 in order to become an outsider.
This book covers not only his entire musical career and discography, but also the story of how he continued to cross the ocean with a strong will, connected with the talents that resonated with him, and captured those moments as if by magic, leaving them as musical memories. This book contains all the process of the interviews that took more than three years!

Getting to know Jun Miyake may lead to guidance for the future. I'm sure.

A must-read not only for Miyake fans, but for all music and art fans.
