THE TREES “Reading Flowers” CD
THE TREES, a four-piece band that led the Tokyo indie scene in the 1920s, has released their debut album with producer Shinichi Sugawara (ex. Siamese Cats)! The refreshing guitar pop with the theme of "the language of flowers" is bringing a warm breeze to the scene. Blow it!
The next-generation guitar pop band, THE TREES, was formed mainly by members from Chiba Prefecture and has been attracting attention in the live house scene in Tokyo, including a successful self-produced event featuring Laura Day Romance. CD + ZINE This long-awaited debut album by a notable band that is particular not only about the songs but also about the artwork and packaging, such as self-releasing their works, was completed with producer Shinichi Sugawara (ex. Siamese Cats), who is also from Chiba Prefecture. Finally released!
THE TREES' music is influenced by overseas guitar pop/indie folk such as Belle and Sebastian and Travis, and has redefined it as Japanese music. The 10 songs on "Reading Flowers," which are a mix of sparkling sweetness and emotion, are The balance between the warm sound that makes you want to go for a walk right away and the slightly sentimental melody is exquisite! This guitar pop is perfect for spring to early summer, and the vocals by Takamasa Arima have a pop feel that is unique to Japanese music, and the sweet and refreshing The singing voice resonates high into the blue sky!
Also noteworthy is the oil painting on the cover, painted by vocalist Takamasa Arima himself!
We spent 2020, the most irrational and unsuitable year for a band, as happily, patiently, and carefully as possible. In between writing songs and practicing, we went for drives and to coffee shops. I saw them realize more and more things and build up a groove as they continued to play, going round Hard Off stores and doing sessions. Bands are inefficient and tedious, but they are beautiful. I thought that it was about sublimating the accumulation of little daily miracles into a band sound with a human, organic connection.
Right now, THE TREES is in the middle of it all, and the miracle of Arima-kun, Ebara-kun, Takeuchi-san, and Yamamoto-kun using their imaginations to make sounds at the same time is underway. There are things in life that we lose and can never get back no matter what we do, but when I saw them perform live for the first time, I felt like they were reminding me of what those important things are.
Now I'm listening to the finished album and feeling the same way, and I'm crying.
