FUYU NI WAKARETE "Nannimo Iranai" CD

"FUYU NI WAKARETE" is a trio band consisting of Saho Terao, Wataru Iga, and Reizaburo Adachi, and is named after the title of a poem by the writer Midori Ozaki. The long-awaited first album by Fuyu ni wa wakarete is a masterpiece that is rich in variety, ranging from songs that could be called new territory born from the intersection of the rare talents of the three artists, to dynamic pop songs, and leaves an aftertaste like a book of poems.

■Fuyu ni wakarete is a band made up of three members: singer-songwriter Saho Terao (vocals, piano), who continues to produce timeless masterpieces such as "Elliptical Dream" and "For the Unreliable," and whose works attract attention with each release; bassist Wataru Iga (b/lake, Old Days Tailor), who has supported artists such as Haruomi Hosono, Gen Hoshino, and Hanaregumi; and multi-instrumentalist Reizaburo Adachi (drums, sax/Reizaburo Adachi to Oishii Mizu), who is a member of Kataomoi and supports artists such as Keiichi Suzuki and HeiTanaka, as well as producing, recording, and working on solo projects. The band, which attracted attention with their 2017 debut 7-inch single "Mimi wo Sumashite" (which was released almost simultaneously with Saho Terao's latest album "For the Unreliable," and which is included in this album with a new mix of the coupling track "Yasashisa no Blanket de Watashi wa Nemuru"), has finally released their first album.

■In addition to the two tracks already released on the 7-inch, the album also includes pop tunes such as the Motown-style "Tsukiyo no Yoruni" (On a Moonlit Night) and the New Orleans-style beat of "Kanrobi" (A Sweet Dew Day). The ballad "Kindness in a Blanket I Sleep With" (some say a masterpiece), and the title track "Nannnimo Iranai" (I Don't Need Anything), in which abstract playing gradually merges with passionate vocals and saxophone, are heartwarming works in which Terao, who is also a writer, sings about people who have nowhere to go. Iga also wrote two tracks: the floating city soul "Kimi no Machi" (Your Town), and "Shiroi Oka" (White Hill), which features Iga on guitar and Adachi on bass and shines with a unique light on the album. Adachi wrote "Fuyu ni Wakarete" (Winter Apart), which features guest Ikeda Wakana's chirping flute and a nostalgic melody, and the band's future is sure to be exciting. The album contains 10 tracks in total.

■A mix of old and new pop, jazz, and electro, abstract, nostalgic, and other sophisticated ensembles create a shadowy worldview that is a little different from Terao's piano-led solo works. Experimental yet nostalgic, this is a monumental piece of 2018 pop music! A masterpiece that is also recommended for fans of female singer-songwriters such as Taeko Onuki, Sachiko Kanenobu, and Yumi Arai!

■The cover art is a work by Eiko Sasaki, an artist who creates visuals using acrylic painting and collage techniques, and it is a piece that gives off a sense of the breath of spring even within its chic world view.
