The night cries of crows
WILD CHILLUN was formed as WC Karasu's permanent band, and in addition to his friend Chihana, with whom he has often toured, it also welcomes Masahiko Okamoto (ex. Angie) and Tetsuo Miyasaka (Night Strangers), who can be said to be people from the rock and roll world. Callas may have a strong image as a blues singer, but he doesn't like to settle down in a box and is always searching for new directions. This album is a Callas-style rock 'n' roll.
The opening song, "Rock & Roll Fantasy," is the album's lead song, and is a masterpiece. It starts manically, with a gentle British rock-flavored B-melody, followed by a country-flavored guitar solo and slide guitar, and ends with alternative soul and Crow's full-power shout, showcasing the band's special skills.
The worldview of the lyrics also strongly reflects Karasu's aesthetic sense.
Although there is a conscious effort to add an alternative color, looking at the album as a whole it would hardly be an exaggeration to call it a rock and roll album.
Even in the strong sound there is always a sense of pathos, and in that respect the songwriting style that Callas has used up until now has been retained.
Another characteristic of the band is the strong use of Chihana's female chorus, adding a pop flavor to the song.
Finally, Chihana's "Marvelous" featured a beautiful and moving finish, with the chorus featuring Crow.
This is an album that was produced with time, effort, and heart and soul, based on the belief that if you create something original and truly good, even if it is independent, something will happen.
