The fascinating world of Japanese music! From the popular Japanese Rare Disc Guide, which introduces domestic music sources that have captivated overseas diggers, comes the rare record Today's Latin Project (1983), which combines Afro-Cuban/Latin standards with the essence of early 1980s jazz and fusion, now available on CD for the first time in the world!
The album was produced by Misato Naoteru of Tokyo Cuban Boys, who have been introducing Latin music to the Japanese music scene since shortly after the war, and Takemura Atsushi, who has been conveying the appeal of Latin music since the 1970s. It is a historically important work that sought to popularize Latin music from a new perspective in the 1980s, when the world was transitioning from analog to digital!
The album features arrangers including Yasuaki Shimizu, who has been gaining worldwide acclaim in recent years for his work with the experimental rock band "Mariah" and his solo works, and Kazuo Otani of SHOGUN, who had a major impact on the music scene at the time with his style based on Western rock. This is a gem of an electronic Latin sound produced to a quality standard not only in Japan but also around the world!
