House of Waters "Rising" CD
★Bonus tracks to be included on the Japanese version
From Snarky Puppy's label GroundUP!
The most talked-about trio on the New York jazz scene, featuring Japanese bassist Moto Fukushima, is finally making its Japanese debut!
This innovative and beautiful hybrid sound featuring the hammered dulcimer is a must-listen for the new generation of jazz listeners in the style of GroundUP and Gondwana, fans of Pat Metheny and ECM, and even fans of Argentine neo-folklore such as Aka Seca Trio, and post-rock!
House of Waters is a New York-based trio that consists of Max ZT, a virtuoso genius player nicknamed "Jimi Hendrix of the hammered dulcimer", Moto Fukushima, a Japanese bass player who graduated from Berklee and composes almost all of the songs, and Ignacio Rivas-Bixio, a drummer from Buenos Aires. Following their previous album "ST" (2016), this is their latest album released by GroundUP, a label run by Michael League of Snarky Puppy. The music, which features a hammered dulcimer with a somewhat oriental sound resonating over a hybrid sound that seamlessly blends jazz, funk, fusion, world music, rock, and acoustic music, is very fresh, yet familiar and nostalgic, and has a light groove that gives it an uplifting feeling and a clear, cleansing effect.
This is the long-awaited Japanese debut album from this talented group who also supported Snarky Puppy on this year's world tour!

Congratulations to House of Waters on the release of their new album in Japan! I was honored to participate in the song "17" on trumpet. Please listen to it. I look forward to many more collaborations with Moto-kun in the future.

When I first heard Max ZT play, I thought to myself, I wonder if there are a ton of amazing players like him all over the world, the world is so big.
Ten years have passed since then, and we've learned that people like that are very rare.
David Crosby
Why don't more people use the hammered dulcimer? Probably because it's so difficult to master. The sound is incredibly flexible, beautiful, melodic and powerful. This band - they are an absolute band - plays such a fresh and original form of jazz that I was immediately captivated the first time I heard them live. I highly recommend House of Waters.

I've been a fan of Max ZT for years and the whole band shines on the new House of Waters album - a thoroughly enjoyable record.

House of Waters is a great instrumental trio. They're a joy to listen to and jam with. I was lucky enough to discover them a few years ago while I was making my world music/acoustic album Planetary Coalition. It's been great to see how quickly they've gone from casual house jams in Brooklyn to big stages all over the world. They're just getting started. Check them out!

With "Rising," House of Waters has creatively created a template for what could be called "next-generation jazz." Their music, which fuses diverse musical elements from around the world, is a five-star full course meal that can be enjoyed by all five senses.
