WHYTE HORSES “Empty Words” CD

★2 bonus tracks included

Stuart Murdoch (Belle and Sebastian) also recommends this! The most nostalgic yet new psychedelic pop band of our time has completed their eye-opening second album!

This is a melodic female vocal psychedelic pop from Manchester that perfectly combines the 60's Summer of Love, Japanese Showa GS pop, and modern indie! If you think the quality is too high, you'll know that the mastermind behind it is Dom Thomas of Finders Keepers/B-Music, the mastermind of "frontier psychedelia"! It makes sense!

WHYTE HORSES is a band project by Dom Thomas, who has teamed up with Andy Votel at the label Finders Keepers/B-Music, which is trusted by enthusiasts around the world, to unearth the so-called "frontier psychedelia" sound.
Their 2016 debut album "Pop or Not," which also featured Ian Parton from The Go! team, was highly praised in their home country and at independent record stores in Japan, and the track "The Snowfalls" was recommended by Stuart Murdoch of Berseba in NME magazine and was also included in his own Spotify playlist, making it a hot topic.
Their long-awaited second album is, frankly, a step above their previous work. If you look closely at the jacket of the lead single "Empty Words," which was also co-written with Ian Parton, you'll see the word "WHYTE HORSES" written in katakana... I couldn't believe it, but when I listened to it, the melody and sound were clearly influenced by Japanese Showa era pop and GS! Yes, they were not satisfied with the fusion of 60's Summer of Love-like psychedelic pop sound and modern indie guitar pop, but finally incorporated our Showa era nostalgia. This is amazing! With the re-evaluation of city pop overseas, Japanese music is really on the rise.
Ah, but this melody, sound, female vocals... are perfect. As soon as you hear it, you'll have a smile on your face as you listen to this masterpiece, filled with nostalgia and heart-pounding excitement, as if a girl in a dress (or a boy in a patterned shirt) were running around smiling in a flower garden in your head. What's more, it's only Dom Thomas, a die-hard fan, who can achieve this perfect balance between nostalgia and modern sensibilities. As expected.
