KASSIN "Relax" CD
*Pre-release in Japan *Commentary: Jin Nakanishi
Definitely the hottest Brazilian indie pop album of the year!
This long-awaited album by Kassin, one of the most important producers who has been leading the exciting Brazilian music scene since the 2000s, is a masterpiece that explodes with his overwhelming sense: a dreamy soft rock with a warped space-time feel!
Kassin has produced countless artists, from big names like Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, and Arto Lindsay to up-and-coming young artists. He has also released albums with Moreno Veloso and Domenico (Lancelotti) in the "+2" project, and has performed in Japan many times and produced the soundtrack for the anime "Michiko and Hatchin." Kassin is a talented producer/bassist with deep ties to Japan. He is undoubtedly the person who has created the stimulating Brazilian pop sound since the 2000s, and it is no exaggeration to say that "Kassin is always behind every interesting sound." His activities make him the "Brazilian John McEntire," and he has completed his first leader album in six years since his previous album "Sonhando Devagar" (2011)! This album, which includes songs written in collaboration with Western artists such as Sean O'Hagan (The High Llamas) and Chris Cummings (aka Marker Sterling), and was created with his friends Domenico, Stefan Sanjuan, and Alberto Continencino, is a masterpiece that explodes with Kashin's unique pop sound, which is very stylish yet somehow funny and strange, like a fusion of 60's soft rock, mondo, and post-rock! Like Domenico's latest album, "Organ Mountains," released in April, this is another exciting sound that Western indie rock/pop fans should listen to!
