KATOKICHI “I don’t sit down on the invisible throne” CD
Wheelchair-bound bluesman Katokichi unleashes REAL BLUES!
Katokichi was a wheelchair dancer who was active in the 1998 Nagano Paralympics opening ceremony. In 2018, he suddenly became interested in blues music, and in just one year, he mastered the blues expression, astonishing those around him. His blues, depicted from the perspective of a wheelchair, is extremely close to the spirit and aesthetic sense that underlies the blues that originated among black people in the American South. It is a real blues that Japanese artists have not been able to express until now! He overwhelms listeners with his husky voice and his unique style of playing, which he invented because his right hand was disabled, by laying the guitar flat and sliding it with a slide bar. Japan's Ben Harper, Japan's Hop Wilson (Shibui) In 2020, the year of the Tokyo Paralympics, he will take on the music world with a CD album containing 5 original songs!! Takayuki Tatsuya (ex-EZ Band) has teamed up to co-produce the album, and a distinguished line-up of musicians have come together to create a superb roots music sound. Produced by Kensuke Machida, Candyman Records
