Robert Johnson "Malted Milk / Milkcow's Calf Blues" 10inch

★Limited First Pressing

"Malted Milk" refers to beer illicitly brewed during Prohibition. This song evokes the feeling of getting intoxicated while trying to drink away the blues. Eric Clapton's performance on "Unplugged" is arguably the most famous cover. "Milkcow's Calf Blues" is a skillful track that references Kokomo Arnold's 1935 song of the same name while incorporating a phrase that was a specialty of Son House. It was the last song recorded in the Dallas session, and it seems to return to the style of "Terraplane Blues," which was the first song recorded in that session.
