Led by Chico Hige's solid drumming, "I Can Tell" coolly intertwines Reck's groovy, undulating bass and Tsunematsu Masatoshi's sharp guitar. Their sophisticated yet freaky sound was only possible thanks to the combined efforts of Reck and Hige, who both experienced the New York no wave scene. The coupling track "Pistol," not included on "Friction," is a devastating single recorded on cassette tape, capturing FRICTION's wild and fast-paced live performance from that time.
