GENE RUSSELL “Talk To My Lady” CD
Gene Russell's second and final album as a leader for the label, founder of Black Jazz Records, is being reissued on vinyl for the first time since its original release in 1973! Enjoy Gene's soothing electric piano!
The album features Henry Franklin on bass, Calvin Keys on guitar, and percussionists, making it even more luxurious than the debut album! Gene Russell himself is in charge of piano as well as the overall production, and his gentle and refined electric piano creates a mellow and dreamy worldview from the opening title track "Talk To My Lady". The mood changes completely in M2 "Get Down", with Henry's bass sounding like jazz funk, and by the time you reach M5 "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life", where Gene's sweet electric piano continues to shine in a bossa nova arrangement, you'll be in high spirits! And you'll be blown away by the crazy performance of the black jazz all-stars on M7 "My Favorite Things", which even feels psychedelic!
