"Peace With Every Step" is the 2004 debut album of Build an Ark, one of the world's leading spiritual jazz bands led by Carlos Niño. This masterpiece, which features a distinguished line-up of top young jazz musicians from the West Coast, includes a 7-inch version of the giant covers of Pharoah Sanders' "You've Gotta Have Freedom" and Phil Ranelin's "Vibes From The Tribe"!
In addition to his work with Amon Contact and other units, Carlos Niño is a genius who continues to create a wide range of sounds from the depths of the West Coast, from hip-hop to soul to ambient. He invited top jazz musicians and also brought together Phil Ranelin, who led the Tribe label in the 70s, and Nate Morgan, who was on the Nimbus label led by Horace Tapscott, to create this astonishing project. The first album features two exquisite cover songs, which are released as singles! The singles include a cover of Pharaoh Sanders' masterpiece "You've Gotta Have Freedom," a representative spiritual jazz song, and "Vibes From The Tribe," a heavy break beat swirl that Phil Ranelin left on Tribe in 1975!
