Brief Encounter was a nine-member soul/funk group centered around the four Bailey brothers from North Carolina. This re-release is a 1977 single featuring "Human," one of the most popular songs from their catalog of two albums and several singles released between 1973 and 1981, on the B-side. It comes on clear orange vinyl with a single-sheet jacket. "Human," also famous for being sampled by a certain Japanese rap group, is a masterpiece of modern soul. Led by an impressive intro, it unfolds with a melancholic melody and falsetto vocals at a leisurely BPM of just over 90. The sophisticated sound and wistful vocals and harmonies in the ballad "Total Satisfaction" on the A-side are also irresistible. Original Sound Plus pressings now fetch over 50,000 yen!
