JESSE FORTUNE “Too Many Cooks c/w Heavy Heart Beat” 7inch
★First press limited edition
"Too Many Cooks" is a timeless classic of modern Chicago blues, covered by countless artists. This faithful reissue of the debut single by Macon, Mississippi-born singer Jesse Fortune, produced by Willie Dixon and released on the USA label in 1963, is here. Under Dixon's direction, Fortune's powerful, gospel-infused vocals, backed by the zundoko dance beats of guitarists Buddy Guy and Big Walter (hca), evoke the dawn of the soul era. This is an undeniable masterpiece. Fripp's slow blues, "Heavy Heart Beat," written by pianist Lafayette Leake, also features on the recording, is also powerful.
