BILLY RAY "Playboy" 7inch
★First press limited edition
Clarence Sims, a New Orleans-born singer/guitarist best known as Fillmore Slim, has released his only single under the name Billy Ray on Kent Records in 1962, which has been reissued on a 7-inch. "Playboy," which is typical of Sims, who is also famous as a pimp, is an incredibly cool R&B song with a catchy melody set to a New Orleans-style rhythm and featuring a cute female chorus. Fripp's "Texas Queen" is a thrilling slow blues in the style of B.B. King, with a superb guitar solo. Both songs feature vocals that are reminiscent of his buddy Johnny "Guitar" Watson.
