LIGHTNIN' HOPKINS『Nothin' But The Blues』7inch
★VANHOLDER specifications ★Green color record ★First press limited edition
The 1954 Herald recording is considered the masterpiece of Lightnin' Hopkins, the epitome of blues. A collection of 12 of his singles, the LP Lightnin' and the Blues was released by the same label in 1960. The opening number, "Nothin' But the Blues," has been reissued on a 7-inch green colored record with the same coupling as the original single. The Herald recording marks the peak of Lightnin's electric guitar, accompanied by a rhythm section. The LP opens with a super heavyweight slow blues, decorated with dirty ringing guitar and deep growls. Fripp's "Early Mornin' Boogie," not included on the LP, is also powerful, combining traditional Texas boogie with a John Lee Hooker-esque vibe.
