RUKA ISHIKAWA "Sore wa boku janaiyo" 7inch

A music project featuring young, talented actresses has been launched. The project name is "Magico." It means "magic" in Portuguese, and the project aims to capture magical moments of young actresses that can only be captured now through music (songs) and introduce them each season.

The second part of the project, the Autumn (Outono) edition, will feature Ishikawa Ruka, who stars in the film "Umibe no Onna no Ko" (2023), based on the novel by Asano Inio, in which Happy End's "Kaze wo Atsumete" is used as an insert song. She will cover the famous song "Sore wa Boku janai yo" from the first album (1972) by Eiichi Ohtaki, who was a member of Happy End. It will be released as a 7-inch single.

All works in this project are produced by Seiichi Yamamoto, a musician who has long been at the forefront of the Japanese alternative scene as one of the foremost figures in avant-pop. Ishikawa's crystal clear singing voice shines even more with Yamamoto's sound making.

The B-side includes a cover of "Yurei" from Seiichi Yamamoto's album "Wazauta" (2015). Ishikawa was so impressed by Yamamoto's live performance that he asked to cover the song himself.

Also of note is the artwork, which uses photographs of Ishikawa taken by Kumagai Naoko, a photographer who is in charge of all the works in this project and has also worked on photo books of famous actresses.

■Ruka Ishikawa
Born March 22, 1997, actress, from Saitama Prefecture.
She made her screen debut in "Kirakira Megane" (2018). She subsequently starred in "Kibou no yukue", "Aesop no omou tsubo" and "Umibe no Onnnanoko", and played the heroine in "Sarugaku-cho de aimasyou", for which she won the Newcomer of the Year Award (Komori Kazuko Award) at the 31st Japan Movie Critics Awards. Her recent major appearances include the films "Ichiko" and "Mikaduki to neko", the drama "Bantman" (Tokai TV), and the music videos "Atemonaku" (Aimer) and "Musubi" (This is LAST).
