Yaeyama folk song master, Daiku Tetsuhiro, covers Milton Nascimento's great song, "Travesia," in Japanese using an Okinawan folk song!
The B-side features Haruomi Hosono's Hawaiian classic "Japanese Rumba"! This euphoric tune is sure to be a hot topic this summer!
This 7-inch cut is from the 2003 album Horai-gyo by Daiku Tetsuhiro, a master of Yaeyama folk songs from Ishigaki Island, Okinawa. This double-sider covers "Travesia," a representative song of the early career of Brazilian Minas singer Milton Nascimento, covered by Moonriders, and "Japanese Rumba," a famous Hawaiian song that is also included on Hosono Haruomi's "Haraiso." Both songs are backed by the Pascals, led by Rocket Matsu, and are international folklore items that fuse various elements with Okinawan folk songs. This is a long-awaited album that has been eagerly awaited for release on vinyl not only by Brazilian and world music fans, but also by Japanese music fans and the domestic DJ scene.
