The first of three albums by the great Texas bluesman Lightnin' Hopkins, who has recorded extensively since his 'rediscovery' in 1959, on the prestigious Jewell Records label in Shreveport, Louisiana. reissued on LP! Recorded in his native Texas in 1965, the album features Elmore Nixon on piano and a band of bass and drums, and is bursting with Lightnin's giddy Lightnin-isms! This is a highly acclaimed record that captures the beauty of Lightnin's dirty blues. This is not a jacket design with a colour photo of Lightnin, which is widely available, but a rare cover design with a different photo of Lightnin, which is now quite "rare" and processed in blue all over. Enjoying these little differences is one of the real pleasures of the vinyl road.
