buoy “Kusakage” CD
Misa Yoneyama's solo project, buoy, will release her first live album, "Kusakage" (Shade of the Grass), on Wednesday, November 26th, through Kyoto-based music label disk sibasi. The album was recorded at the end of 2024 at Shibashi, a cultural space renovated from a 100-year-old Kyoto townhouse, with guest guitarist Kota Yamauchi. Set in a shaded tatami room with a garden backdrop swaying in the wind with bamboo groves, the live album's track selection captures her current state.
The Okinawan folk song "Tinsagunu Hana," which has just been released as a pre-release single, sings of the importance of parental teachings that resonate with the heart in any era, just as the red flowers of the balsam stain the toes. For her, who has been conscious of the origins of song while producing and performing live, folk songs are born from everyday life and are always connected to everyday life.
This album includes one of her signature songs, "Akarui Kurai," a cover of Wataru Takada's "Familiar Short Letter," "Tsukihi," a song inspired by her experience living in Okinawa, and "Stone," which has not yet been released on an album. It can truly be said to be a short recording with the best selection of songs.
