A monumental masterpiece that shines brilliantly even among the legendary Strata-East spiritual jazz label's catalog! This miraculous record includes the classic track "Peace," a fusion of a peaceful worldview, modal sound, and black groove.

A gem of an album that perfectly captures the beauty, power, and depth of American spiritual jazz! This is the 1974 debut recording by The Ensemble Al-Salaam, led by saxophonist Khaliq Abdul Al-Rouf. From the Afrocentric "The Sojourner" and "Circles"—truly a prototype for 2 Banks of 4—to the high-speed modal jazz of the Coltrane tribute "Trace Of Trane," the thrill-packed "Malika," the peaceful "Optimystical," and the classic "Peace," which shifts from a warm, soulful opening into a roaring Brazilian climax, this is an album I truly want as many music fans as possible to hear! The tracks featuring vocalist Beatrice Parker, brimming with vitality, are especially like jewels.
