Led by legendary art director Mitsuo Shindo, The Scooters embodied the "Tokyo Motown Sound" with their innovative 60's-inspired sound and striking visuals on this 1st album, originally released in 1982. In the 90s, Kyoko Koizumi covered their song "Tokyo Disco Night." More than 40 years after its release, this definitive album of the mod scene continues to be reappraised today.
Rooted in the 60's girl group sound epitomized by The Ronettes and The Supremes, the group made a powerful impact during their short initial run of only about two years in the early 1980s. Following their 2012 revival, they have continued to garner high acclaim across generations as the "Tokyo Mod Queens," with songs provided by a stellar lineup of musicians including Kyohei Tsutsumi, Jun Hashimoto, Ryohei Shima, and Yasuharu Konishi. The miraculous masterpiece they left behind in 1982 is now available in a long-awaited vinyl reissue!
