The two classic albums from "Mori wa Ikiteiru," a band that held an unparalleled presence in the 2010s Tokyo indie scene, are revived through new mixes by the members themselves!
Following the band's dissolution, the central figure, Takuro Okada—now highly acclaimed as a producer, arranger, and mix engineer—has poured his passion, experience, and sensibilities cultivated over a decade back into these supreme soundscapes!
Mori wa Ikiteiru was a band highly regarded for their delicate songwriting in Japanese and rich ensembles, blending diverse musical elements like folk, psychedelia, jazz, and chamber pop with their own unique sensibility. Although their active period was short, they possessed a one-of-a-kind presence in the 2010s Tokyo indie scene, and the two albums they left behind, "Mori wa Ikiteiru" (2013) and "Good Night" (2014), remain supported by many listeners today.
Since the band broke up in 2015, the members have pursued individual projects. Takuro Okada, in particular, has continued to explore his own sonic expression while working on numerous projects as a producer, arranger, and mix engineer. For these new mixes, he has updated the sound from his current perspective, adding more depth and dimension while preserving the original atmosphere and the charm of the performances from the time they were recorded.
This reissue, realized after more than a decade, serves as a signpost connecting the music of Mori wa Ikiteiru to current listeners. Whether for fans who have known these works since the beginning or for a new generation encountering this sound for the first time, these vibrant musical pieces will resonate with a fresh impact.
