LES DEMERLE『Spectrum』LP

★Limited first pressing ★With obi ★Color vinyl (marble)

Les DeMerle's historically significant masterpiece, featuring many killer tracks coveted by diggers, such as "A Day In The Life," known as a sampling source for the HIP HOP classic O.C.'s "Time's Up," and a big funk number of The Fifth Dimension's No.1 hit song "Aquarius," is finally reissued on colored vinyl!

This album, Les DeMerle's first work produced in 1968, represents the rare groove scene, and while it's well-known for its sampling material, it's also a high-spec big band funk piece that will surprise you with its star-studded lineup of participating musicians! The saxophone section features the tremendous pressure of Frank Foster, Lew Tabackin, Ernie Lawrence, and Chris Woods, while the trumpet section includes Charles Sullivan and Marvin Stamm. Furthermore, representing the jazz scene of the time, the legendary members include Joe Beck on guitar and Norman Simmons on piano! Starting with the title track (solo) "Spectrum" (A1), where DeMerle's drumming makes its presence felt without being overshadowed, to the groovy jazz-funk "Underground" (A4) where all parts intricately intertwine around the drums, "A Day In The Life" (A5) which transforms The Beatles' original song into a smooth, mid-tempo funk, and "Aquarius" (B2) with its pleasant light Brazilian funk and horn section, this is a historically significant masterpiece that proves the young Les DeMerle, just over twenty, was a first-class drummer!
