The Gathering: Roots and Branches of Los Angeles Jazz Healing Suite 』2LP
★First limited edition★With obi★World's first LP release
This is a live recording of a concert held on November 8th, 2015 at the Mamie Clayton Library and Museum in Culver City, California by Jesse Sharps, an early bandleader of the Pan African Peoples Arkestra (PAPA), led by Horace Tapscott, whose spiritual, freaky, cutting-edge jazz has had a major influence on the current LA jazz scene, including Kamasi Washington.
This historical documentary features many legends who connect the spirit of the 70s to the present day, including singer Dwight Trible, who has participated in works by PAPA, Build an Ark, and Pharaoh Sanders, and trombonist Phil Ranelin, founder of Detroit's legendary spiritual jazz label "TRIBE"!
"Mother" (M6), a beautiful yet ephemeral piano trio piece written by pianist Nate Morgan, who participated in Build an Ark like Dwight Tribble, with Dwight adding his spiritual vocals, is a stunning track worthy of being the final track on the album!
