CLIFFORD JORDAN『In The World』LP
★First complete limited edition
Spiritual jazz at its finest! Tenor saxophone giant Clifford Jordan's masterpiece "In The World" for the prestigious Strata-East label has been revived in a new 45rpm, double LP format!
Clifford Jordan, born in Chicago in 1931, was a tenor saxophone giant who continued to express the essence of hard bop until his death in March 1993. This legendary masterpiece, a milestone in the history of modern jazz, has been reissued in a new 45rpm double LP format! This album was recorded at his own expense in the spring of 1969, just as he was approaching the peak of his career in the 70's after his debut with BLUE NOTE in the late 50's and passing through the chaotic 60's. It was released in 1972 on STRATA EAST as the first in the Jordan-produced "Dolphy Series. The highlight of the album is "VIENNA" (A1), an ecstatic daydream of Jordan, Don Cherry, Wynton Kelly, and others over a minor-key melody and a somber waltz beat. The frenzied pathos, sensuality, and lyricism that overflow into this piece continue to exert a rare charm, and it is the pinnacle of spiritual jazz!
