A superb mellow soul album by Lloyd Price, a New Orleans R&B/R&R singer, songwriter, and president of TSG, the pinnacle of rare groove music since the 1950s, who had a great influence in later years. Don't talk about TSG = Rare Groove without listening to this!
TSG RECORDS was born out of a chance encounter between Lloyd Price, an R&B/R&R singer and songwriter who has been active since the 50s and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, and Don King, a major promoter of boxing's biggest matches, including Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson. TSG's president, Lloyd Price himself, has left us this superb album, full of a mellow, soulful sound that is different from the image of Price, who is well known as an R&B and R&R legend. The opening number 'What Did You Do With My Love' (A1) is full of new soul feeling, followed by the title track 'Music - Music' (A2) with its pleasant chorus refrain, and the Caribbean-flavoured 'Street' (A3) with its lilting guitar cuts and a chorus refrain. The album also includes the Caribbean-tinged 'Street Love' (B1), the heartbreaking melody of the dancer 'You Brought It On Yourself' (B2) and the superb mellow soul of 'Uphill Peace Of Mind' (B3) by Frederick Knight, all with a modern sound and tasteful vocals. This is the first reissue in TSG's original jacket.
