Yuko Matsuzaki 『Mother-Of-Pearl Box』LP
A miraculous reissue of a Japanese 80s New Age/Ambient masterpiece! A spiritual and fantastical utopia sound woven with an original arrangement that interweaves synthesizers with live sounds such as flute, oboe, guitar, and percussion!
After a classical career as a flute player, Matsuzaki Yuko became a composer and arranger in 1982, and from 1985 to 1987 she worked mainly in London as a flute, synthesizer and keyboard player in studios and as a touring support member. She gained a high reputation abroad without going through the Japanese music scene, and in 1985 before she moved to the UK, she produced the super rare album "Raden no Hako" in 1985, limited to 100 copies/LP only, and it is now being reissued! The spiritual and fantastical sound, which has a Japanese taste everywhere, led Simon Jeffs of Penguin Cafe Orchestra to hear this album, which led to him participating in "Pink, Blue and Amber" by German electronic musician and pianist Roedelius, who is also known for his work with Cluster and Harmonia. This is a world-class masterpiece born here in Japan during the rise of ambient music in the late 1980s, when house and techno were on the rise and ambient music was spreading worldwide!
