V.A. (MULATU ASTATKE)『Ethiopian Modern Instrumentals Hits』LP

PLP-7195
Format: LP
Price: 4,000 yen + tax
Release date:2021/11/26

This work is a masterpiece compilation released from Ethiopia's in 1972 on the eve of the release of Mulatu Astatke's masterpiece "Ethio Jazz", and is a companion to "Ethio Jazz", which is touted as a masterpiece. It is also known as the most difficult to obtain super rare board in the history of Afro Rare Groove.

New Wave = "Ethiopia Jazz" has risen into the Ethiopian music scene due to the return of Muratu, who studied jazz in Europe and the United States. An ambitious project that compiled the modern Ethiopian sound from 1969 to 1972 with the sound widely known here, which would have been quite innovative at the time (although it is novel enough to listen to now). Although it is an album, most of the recorded contents are actually composed of songs under the name of Muratu and songs arranged by Muratu. In other words, it is no exaggeration to say that it is actually an "Muratu album".The one and only exoticism created by the fusion of Latin jazz elements that were greatly influenced when he came to the United States and the Ethiopian indigenous Afro sound ... Its smoky taste and smoky blackness are indescribable. It is a masterpiece that should be listened to as a set with "Ethio Jazz".
