The world's first reissue of a super rare, no-cover promo (?) LP produced in the early 1980s by Southside Movement and Jackie Ross, two Chicago-based groups! The unknown gem of groovy soul "You Are the One That I Need" is just the best! You should definitely experience this wicked comfort! Includes an unreleased track by Southside Movement that was released on CD by P-Vine in 1991!
Southside Movement is a Chicago funk band that released three albums from Wand and 20th Century between 1973 and 1975. Jackie Ross (born in St. Louis), a female singer from Chicago, also released a considerable number of works for Chess and Brunswick. The two bands collaborated on a six-song mini-album produced by Chicago's talented producer James Van Lear, and this album has been reissued with new artwork and additional unreleased songs by Southside Movement. The tropical/Brazilian-flavored groovy soul tune "You Are the One That I Need" is just a killer! The catchy horn riff creates a pleasant, light sound, and Jackie Ross's expansive singing voice brings a wonderful uplifting feeling, making this a truly flawless hidden gem! Other tracks include the sticky slow funk "Cold Hearted Woman" and the horn-led funk instrumental "Open Air," as well as Southside Movement's unreleased songs that are unparalleled in power. This is a must-listen for soul and funk fans.
