Wendell Harrison "Reawakening" CD

★First limited production
★Paper jacket specification
★Latest remastering

This is the first release from "Rebirth", the label launched by Wendell Harrison, founder of "Tribe" and a saxophone player who has left behind many great performances since the 70s, following "Wenha" in 1985!
・Befitting the label name "Rebirth," this superb jazz album rediscovers a spiritual inclination that could be described as a return to the roots of "Wenha," which was closer to the contemporary sound of the 1980s!

With the label name "Rebirth", Wendell Harrison once again expresses his passion as a jazz musician in this album. Starting with the opening number "Winter" (M1), which features the gorgeous piano of his friend Harold Mckinney, who has also led the Detroit jazz scene, the album is packed with the best of jazz from the first half, with the opening number "Winter" (M2) featuring the warm vocals of Leon Thomas and a bossa flavor blended into the light Brazilian jazz "Love Dream" (M2), and the spiritual and freaky Wendell blowing "He's The One We All Knew" (M3). The momentum did not fade in the second half, and the album showed off a mature performance with the fusion-like title track "Reawakening" (M4), in which Wendell plays a light and mellow melody on the flute, and "Tons & Tons Of BS" (M5), in which percussive beats and horn sections intertwine freely to create a pitch-black funkiness! And the album is a fitting start to the new label "Rebirth", as if tracing his career, with a novel arrangement of Wendell Harrison's signature song "Where Am I", which was also included in the masterpiece "An Evening With The Devil" from the Tribe era, featuring Leon Thomas' vocals!
