Cecil Ride, the Chicago soul singer who enjoys immense support from soul enthusiasts around the world, has finally reissued two extremely rare albums he released under the name Homeboy and the COL after the release of the 80s modern soul/boogie masterpiece "Stone Free"!
This is the first album released under the name HOME BOY AND THE COL in 1982, and it combines the modern soul/boogie that captivated soul fans around the world with the masterpiece "Stone Free" with the electro-synth sound unique to the 80s! From the opening "I'll Make It On My Own" (M1), which features a gorgeous ensemble of horns and refreshing vocals and chorus, to the instrumental number "Home Boys Revenge" (M5), which features spacey synths and an electro-beat, to the crossover soul "Love Was The Cost" (M10), which features a powerful vocal that raises the intertwining of a cutting guitar with a strong groove, synth leads, and sharp cutting guitar, it is a full-on 80s style dance floor version!
