Christone "Kingfish" Ingram "662" CD
A masterpiece that encompasses the Big Three, Jimi Hendrix, and Prince, and echoes the White Stripes and the Black Keys, with the dignity to bear the title of "King" of the new generation! Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, the next generation's greatest bluesman, made his debut at the tender age of 20 and has been praised by Rolling Stone and others. His long-awaited second album, his first in two years, has finally been released!
■Christone "Kingfish" Ingram is a 22-year-old bluesman from Clarksdale, Mississippi. As soon as he released his first album, "Kingfish," in 2019, he was praised as the "savior of the blues." In recent years, he has not only collaborated with musically related artists such as Buddy Guy and the Tedeschi Trucks Band, but also with Rakim, Vampire Weekend, Bootsy Collins, and others, and his popularity is only growing.
■This is his second album, released two years after his previous one, and the title is named after the telephone area code of his hometown, northern Mississippi. Opening with the light and driving title track "662", the album is a mix of blues rock, down-home shuffle and soulful groove, packed with amazing guitar work and deep, soulful vocals, far surpassing his previous work.
■As a bonus track on the Japanese version, Christone has included a cover of "Empty Promises" by Michael "Ironman" Barks, a blues guitarist who has been a fan of his for many years. This is a great cover that explodes with his intense and unique guitar playing right from the intro.
■ "Christone "Kingfish" Ingram is the future of blues, with an edge, strength and vitality in his singing and playing. Hard-hitting guitar... and sweet, melodic vocals." -- Guitar World
