Chien Chien Lu “The Path” CD

The first leader album by this beautiful vibraphonist who is a fan of Roy Ayers!

This debut album, which pays homage to great jazz musicians and features delicate arrangements of modern soul jazz and thrilling jazz funk sounds from the early 70s, is finally available in Japan!

Milt Jackson, Cal Tjader, Billy Wooten... The Path, the debut album released in 2020 by this rising star in the vibraphone world, opens with Roy Ayers' "We Live in Brooklyn Baby," which has been sampled by many artists including Smithsonian and Mos Def, and includes covers of Miles Davis and Bill Evans' "Blue in Green," and "Mo' Better Blues," a film directed by Spike Lee and composed by Bill Lee. It's a beautiful soul jazz album that pays homage to the great jazz predecessors!

After studying composition and percussion at Taipei National University of the Arts, he majored in vibraphone at the Philadelphia University of the Arts jazz department. He is a traditional jazz musician who has participated in trumpeter Jeremy Pelt's quintet and has toured Europe and performed in Japan, but he is also a vibraphonist who is currently attracting attention for his groovy, swinging playing that captures the hearts of soul and rare groove fans. This debut album is an undisputed masterpiece, with original composition and arranging skills that have been highly praised by overseas jazz magazines, including the thrilling "Invitation," the funky "Blind Faith" with its entwining black bass line, and "Blossom in a Stormy Night," an exotic soul jazz arrangement of the Taiwanese folk song "Rainy Night Flower," also famously sung by Teresa Teng!
