Communions “Pure Fabrication” CD
Copenhagen rock band Communions, formed by the Rehof brothers, have released their second album, their first in four years! Their debut album, centered around the emotional vocals of vocalist Martin Rehof, was a huge hit and led to them appearing at Summer Sonic! This masterpiece features a variety of sounds, from post-punk to Britpop, as if looking back on their history!
Copenhagen-based rock band Communions has finally released their long-awaited new album, Pure Fabrication, following their debut album Blue in 2017! Communions made their presence felt here in Japan, far from Copenhagen, by performing twice in Japan in 2017, including a magnificent performance at the Mountain Stage at Summer Sonic, and releasing a Japan-exclusive 12-inch vinyl the following year.
The album starts with the magnificent lead song "Bird of Passage," written based on the experience of moving from Denmark to Seattle and then returning to Copenhagen. It goes from a garage intro reminiscent of The Strokes to a fast-paced, classic guitar rock with a mix of noise and dreams in "Cupid," a Communions-like song with a groovy rhythm and a slightly languid vocal in "History (The Siren Song)," to a new side of the band, such as "Is This How Love Should Feel?", which mixes psyche and post-punk with UK guitar rock. Among the variety of songs, Martin's emotional and romantic vocals and melodies, which have been his greatest weapon since his debut, remain at the center of this album!
During these long four years, there wasn't only positive news, such as the departure of guitarist Jakob and drummer Frederik, who had been friends since high school, but the forward-looking frontman Martin and the Rehov brothers, Mads on bass, have completed the album ``Pure Fabrication,'' a 15-song, one-hour masterpiece that plays out the various styles that Communions have tried in the past and the feelings they have accumulated over the past four years in a grand manner!
