SAHO TERAO “For the Innocent” CD
Saho Terao, one of the most talented singer-songwriters of our time, has completed her eighth original album. This is a unique album that combines the immeasurable warmth that gently envelops the listener with a dignified presence that makes the listener stand up straight. A world. A masterpiece that draws you in from the very first note, into a world woven by songs, words, and sounds that contain tremendous persuasiveness and appeal.
■Everyone must have heard her singing voice every day in the music for the NTT Docomo TV commercial that was aired until recently. Since her debut in 2006, she has garnered enthusiastic support from many music fans. Singer-songwriter Saho Terao. Her previous work, "Elliptical Dream" (2015), is widely considered to be her best work, and "My Favorite Nursery Rhymes" (2016), which featured children's songs and lullabies from all over Japan, The eighth original album, "For the Innocent," is a collection of songs with the artist's own piano accompaniment and the familiar rhythm section of Iga Wataru (b) and Adachi Reizaburo (ds), who can play at any tempo. The album contains 10 songs produced with a variety of guests based on that foundation.
■First and foremost, these are songs by Saho Terao herself. Her singing voice has an overwhelming power, sometimes filled with compassion, sometimes with a sharp gaze towards the world and humanity. From songs based on traditional Japanese musical performances to songs with electronic arrangements, the guest musicians also added a touch of charm to the rich variety of sounds that quietly and beautifully colored Terao's songs. The lyrics are also very moving. I would like to declare that this is a masterpiece that rivals the previous work "Elliptical Dream."
■Photographer Katsumi Omori produced the music video for the album's title song, "Tayorinamono no Tame ni," and took the jacket photo.
■Terao is also a writer, and in addition to his recent works "The South Seas and Me" (Little More) and "Nuclear Power Plant Workers" (Kodansha Gendai Shinsho), she is scheduled to publish "Looking for Palau of Those Days" in August through Shueisha. .
