Stud "Stud" CD

★First limited production
★Paper jacket specification

The stallion of Texas hard rock is unleashed! The long-awaited latest reissue of the legendary album "Stud", which was pressed in 1975 with only 200 copies and has been called the "Holy Grail" by collectors around the world!

Formed in Houston in 1974, the band rehearsed while performing live in their hometown, and developed their own style while being influenced by Led Zeppelin and others. They recorded at the Barons' studio in Rosenberg, Texas, and released their only album, "Stud," on the subsidiary label "Baron Records." This work combines a hard sound that relies on youth and a fearless experimental spirit. Dr. Timothy Williams, who was 17 years old at the time, takes the lead guitar that cuts through with his youth, and Paul David's Rickenbacker bass and organ support the foundation of the band's musicality, giving it depth and color. George Rundell's ironclad drums are also powerful, and the trio's solid Texas rock and progressive development are combined. Starting with the exhilarating hard rock of "Woman Like You" (M1), with its relentlessly heavy riffs, beats and shouts, and "Captain Boogie" (M2), which blows away without any reason, the two long songs, each about 12 minutes long, "Stud" (M3), with its relentless heavy riffs, death throes and progressive jams, and "The War Song" (M5), a lyrical number that laments the world going in the wrong direction, also highlight the band's individuality. The album, which includes a total of five songs, including "Jim / Blues" (M4), with its hard blues and exquisite acoustic guitar, is full of excitement and thrills.

Baron Records recognized their talent, covered their recording costs, and pressed 200 LPs, but although the album was played on radio stations around Houston, it did not lead to a contract with a major record company. The LP was never repressed, and even rock collectors in Texas could not obtain it. In 2015, it was reissued by Outsider, a sub-label of the Spanish rare record reissue label Guelsen Records, and the high quality of the album surprised enthusiasts and maniacs. Ten years have passed since then, and even the reissue has been difficult to obtain. But in 2025, the long-awaited Japanese version will finally be released on CD! It also comes with a booklet containing liner notes by Paul looking back on that time and a number of precious live photos. It's time to paint Japan in Texas colors!

*This is a different band from the 1970s British band of the same name.
