★Supervision and commentary: Kanazawa Toshikazu (Light Mellow)
Randy Goodrum, a famous songwriter representing the AOR scene, has released his first solo album in 26 years, which is so amazing! Stylish melodies, urban sounds, high-level arrangements, and the best musicians involved - it's in a class of its own in every respect!
"Randy Goodrum's first solo album in a long time is his first in 26 years since his 1994 self-cover collection, Words & Music. This time he collaborates with Larry Williams (formerly of Seawind) and features Michael Landau, Marcus Miller, Vinnie Colaiuta, Brian Bromberg, and others, making it a jazzy pop hybrid in the style of Fool's Paradise. For those of you eagerly awaiting the second JaR album with Jay Graydon, this is a satisfying blow like the tip of an arrow!" -- Kanazawa Hisakazu
Randy Goodrum has provided hits for many artists in the 80s, including TOTO, Steve Perry, Michael McDonald, George Benson, and Kenny Rogers, and his own solo albums have also been extremely popular. His album "Scene 29" (2008) under the name JaR, a unit with Jay Graydon, also attracted attention, and now he has completed his sixth solo album, his first in 26 years since "Words and Music" (1994)! Randy Goodrum's style, which combines the urban sound of jazz fusion manner reminiscent of Steely Dan with heartwarming melodies of singer-songwriters, shows no signs of a break, and of course the musicians are all top-notch. This is one of the best masterpieces in his career, and it is a must-listen for all AOR fans!
