BASIA "Butterflies" CD
★Supervision and commentary: Kanazawa Toshikazu (Light Mellow)
The long-awaited new album from Basia, the singer who has released numerous hits as a member of Matt Bianco and as a solo artist, is her first in nine years!
"This is Basia's first musical gift in about nine years. The sound is now more diverse and jazzy and glamorous... And above all, the melodies and phrases that were so characteristic of Basia back then have returned. Now that city pop and AOR are being re-evaluated, this is the Basia style that naturally fits into the city." - Kanazawa Toshikazu
The long-awaited! Basia, the beautiful Polish singer who led the female vocal scene in the 90s as a solo artist and the only female member of Matt Bianco, has released a new album after a long time! It's been nine years since her original album "It's That Girl Again" in 2009. It's also been seven years since her live album "From Newport To London" (not released in Japan) in 2011. During that time, she delivered her voice to Japanese fans at her Japan tours in 2013 and 2015, but it is still a special joy for fans who have loved her voice for many years to be able to hear new songs recorded in the studio. Her stylish pop sound, which blends jazz, bossa nova, Latin, etc., has remained unchanged since her debut, but this time she entertains us with an even more diverse range of songs, as if she has packed in various feelings from the past nine years. And each song is full of the flavor that can be said to be "this is Basia". We hope you enjoy to your heart's content the latest incarnation of Basia's voice and sound, which have always been a natural and light fit for urban life.
